Book Description:

A comprehensive overview of trading and risk management in the energy markets

Energy Trading and Risk Management provides a comprehensive overview of global energy markets from one of the foremost authorities on energy derivatives and quantitative finance. With an approachable writing style, Iris Mack breaks down the three primary applications for energy derivatives markets – Risk Management, Speculation, and Investment Portfolio Diversification – in a way that hedge fund traders, consultants, and energy market participants can apply in their day to day trading activities.

  • Moving from the fundamentals of energy markets through simple and complex derivatives trading, hedging strategies, and industry-specific case studies, Dr. Mack walks readers through energy trading and risk management concepts at an instructive pace, supporting her explanations with real-world examples, illustrations, charts, and precise definitions of important and often-misunderstood terms.
  • From stochastic pricing models for exotic derivatives, to modern portfolio theory (MPT), energy portfolio management (EPM), to case studies dealing specifically with risk management challenges unique to wind and hydro-electric power, the book guides readers through the complex world of energy trading and risk management to help investors, executives, and energy professionals ensure profitability and optimal risk mitigation in every market climate.

Energy Trading and Risk Management is a great resource to help grapple with the very interesting but oftentimes complex issues that arise in energy trading and risk management.

Ohhh, my noggin. What has happened? I took a whallop upside the head and woke up in a place far from my time and home. This is the castle Camelot! I am in the company of King Arthur and his majestic Knights!

Golly, can you imagine? Me, Ichabod Temperance, an Alabama tinker in King Arthur’s Camelot!

Oh, Goodness, it ain’t took too long before I already have trouble up to my hat’s brim what with Mr. Merlin, Miss Morgana, and a big mean knight in black armour getting bristly with me. Gee whiz, if I ain’t careful, I might end up wrecking there ever having been a Western Civilization!

EXCERPT

“Oh, gosh, uh, prithee, how may I serve thee my Queen, Ma’am?”

“Oh Ichabod, you are naughtte like the other members of court. Oh, how they gossip! Like great grist mills they churn out their slander! Courtesans’ tongues wag to fan each other in the summer heat methinks! It makes me so angry! I have never laid a finger on his luscious body! Naughtte once have I dived into that big pool of studly glory that is the buff-boy of my dreams, Sir Launcelot! Who could blame a girl for wanting a piece of that stallion! I am a Queen but I am a woman too! I have needs! I have desires! Don’t get me wrong! I love my King and I love my country! Arthur is a good man and a good husband. The sex is great! It’s naughtte that, it’s that even in the act of physical love, some part of him is off being a King. When the moment comes for the King to espouse, it is England in his heart and mind. With Launcelot it’s different. Launcelot wants me as no man has ever desired a woman! Launcelot undresses me with his eyes. I am naked under his penetrative vision. I feel his burning gaze and it in turn sets my own passion ablaze. Oh, how I long for him! The curl of hair about his fair face. Oh, how I could lick whipped cream from his tanned, shaven, muscular chest. I telleth thee true, Sir Ichabod, I could ride that horse all night long! Kuh-boingy-boingy-boingy…”

“Queen Guenevere!”

“Hunh? Merry, perhaps I am getting carried away. Now, you must promise me, naughtte a word to the King! Do you promise?”

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Nor to Launcelot!”

“No, Ma’am.”

“Good. Methinks I shall go have a massage.”

“Good idea, Ma’am.”

“Gee, that was strange. I better get out of here before I run into…King Arthur! Hi sir, um, what are you doing back here?”

“I was looking for the Queen, you haven’t seen her come through here have you?”

About the Books

Series Title: The Agartes Epilogues

Author: K.S. Villoso

Genre: Epic Fantasy

Jaeth’s Eye

It has been years since his brother’s accident. Kefier was only just beginning to live a normal life–at least, as normal as it could get for a mercenary from a run-down town. And then an errand goes wrong and he finds himself holding his friend’s bloody corpse. Already once branded a murderer, he is pursued by men he once considered friends and stumbles into the midst of a war between two mages. One bears a name long forgotten in legend; the other is young, arrogant Ylir, who takes special interest in making sure Kefier is not killed by his associates. The apex of their rivalry: a terrible creature with one eye, cast from the womb of a witch, with powers so immense whoever possesses it holds the power to bring the continent to its knees.

Now begins a tale with roots reaching beyond the end of another. Here, a father swears vengeance for his slain children; there, a peasant girl struggles to feed her family. A wayward prince finds his way home and a continent is about to be torn asunder. And Kefier is only beginning to understand how it all began the moment he stood on that cliff and watched his brother fall…

Aina’s Breath

Enosh, apprentice to one of the richest merchants in the Kag, is secretly heir to a broken line of mages. Because of The Empire of Dageis’ quest for sources of the agan–the life-source that mages use for power–his people have been reduced to scavengers, his culture diminished to a speck in the wind. For more than ten years, he has helped raise a conjured beast to use as a weapon against the Dageians. But Enosh’s plans are falling apart. A powerful enemy has escaped and Enosh needs to capture him before he reaches Dageis. His quest is further complicated after he finds himself used as a pawn by Gasparian nobles.

On the other end of the continent, Sume, daughter to a Jin-Sayeng hero, must return to her roots to save her country and bring honour to her father’s name. To do this, she must befriend a prince and understand the terrible, corrupting nature of power and the reason her father was driven to walk away from it all those years ago…

Meanwhile, Kefier, Enosh’s agan-blind brother, is forced back into a life of violence. As he struggles with the notion that hands, once bloodied, never stay clean for long, he finds himself occupied with an unexpected burden: his own brother’s daughter.

Sapphire’s Flight

The battle at Shi-uin has left scars. The rise of Gorrhen yn Garr to power seems unstoppable. As nations fall, the lines between love and duty become blurred and Kefier, Sume, and Enosh must learn to live with the choices they have made.

Author Bio

K.S. Villoso was born in a dank hospital on an afternoon in Albay, Philippines, and things have generally been okay since then. After spending most of her childhood in a slum area in Taguig (where she dodged death-defying traffic, ate questionable food, and fell into open-pit sewers more often than one ought to), she and her family immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, where they spent the better part of two decades trying to chase the North American Dream. She is now living amidst the forest and mountains with her family, children, and dogs in Anmore, BC.
