The Overly Honest Teacher

By Meredith Essalat

Synopsis:

As both a teacher and school principal, Meredith Essalat has lived the daily challenges of helping children navigate through their young lives. She has seen the struggles that parents have as they balance longer working hours with the demands of home life. And how it’s the teachers who are often caught in the middle. In an effort to stop pointing out each other’s flaws—and instead letting kids know they are supported—Meredith offers hard-won pointers, enabling parents, teachers, and students alike to encourage one another while holding everyone accountable for their actions.

Combining humor with straightforward, practical advice, the Overly Honest Teacher shows parents how to welcome everyday parenting gracefully. The results will be well-adjusted, positive, enthusiastic young adults ready to work hard and take on the world. And isn’t that what we all want for our children?

Read an excerpt:

“We should never stand by and watch as a child drowns (both literally and figuratively), but we also should never let them stay in the shallow end forever. I have watched parents come to school to spoon-feed their second-grade students at lunchtime. Watched them complete their projects, write their papers, solve their friendship failings. But while these well-intentioned guardians think they are helping their kiddos, they are actually holding them back from reaching their capacity for figuring things out for themselves. Realizing their individual abilities for conflict resolution and self-sustenance.

Pick them up when they fall down. Put a Band-Aid on their broken hearts and salve on their scraped knees. But when it comes to the speed bumps along their road of academic, social, and emotional exploration, pull up a lawn chair and cheer them on from the sidelines. It’s time for your kiddos to get in the game.”

Plant Your Money Tree: A Guide to Growing Your Wealth was named ‘Best New Wealth Books’ by BookAuthority. On Amazon, it enjoyed the #1 New Release spot in three Amazon categories: Introduction to Investing, Business & Finance, and Retirement Planning.
Plant Your Money Tree offers readers a strategic and actionable way to look at their financial life with a completely new attitude of confidence, empowering them to make smart decisions regarding:

  • What to do with their money
  • How to grow their money
  • When to make smart personal choices such as changing careers, guiding their kid’s education, expanding their business, buying a house, putting money in a savings account, capitalizing on social trends and investing in the future
  • How to manage their existing portfolios and 401Ks

In clear and accessible language, Mish Schneider walks the reader through the six most essential sectors of the U.S. economy as
seen through six market phases —bullish, caution, distribution, bearish, recuperation, and accumulation. She illustrates how to easily recognize these phases, understand their interrelationships and explains to readers why they should care. Using a personal and conversational tone, Mish’s goal is to help anyone who believes the topic of the economy and growing wealth is beyond their comprehension by giving them the tools to make independent, informed decisions about their money. With that knowledge, readers will gain insight plus have practical, smart options for what to do with their finances.

Mish holds the readers’ hands every step of the way with her welcoming and easy to understand language. Schneider does not endorse passive or buy-and-hold type investing. Rather, she teaches readers an evergreen methodology that adapts to every market scenario.

“One of the aims of writing this book was to accurately portray, despite the book’s fictional status, not just what the Falkland’s war was like, but also what it is like to have PTSD. Perhaps by doing so, the book can help contribute a better understanding of war veterans themselves, that we as a society should take better care of our veterans and better comprehend the sacrifices they made. Surprisingly, considering it is claimed that 90% of people will experience at least one trauma in their lives, public insight of PTSD remains inaccurate and incomplete, a perception I hope this book will change.”
