Jeffrey Poston has added two significant African-American fiction characters to the entertainment world, and hopefully to the big screen sooner rather than later. Hero Jason Peares, forced to survive as an outlaw, and hero Carl Johnson, mistakenly labeled the American Terrorist. Both protagonists represent not just the everyman, but the everyman who looks trouble in the face daily just because of a society plagued by racism. These ordinary men suffer trials and tribulations because of their ethnicity and kick ass anyway.

We’ve known and loved movie characters only Samuel L Jackson, Clint Eastwood, Lennie James, and Denzel Washington could truly bring to life—Jeffrey Poston’s two key characters reminded me of the qualities in all these actors that made those movie personalities real. As I read, Lenny James was the face of Carl Johnson and a cross between Samuel, Denzel, and Clint was the face of Jason Peares. It would be an injustice to movie lovers far and wide not to get these books into production for the big screen!
